Herefordshire Council Budget 2025/26 consultation
The Herefordshire Council online budget consultation is now live and they are inviting residents to provide feedback via an online simulator tool which shows the impact of changes in income and expenditure on the delivery of services, as well as an online questionnaire. Herefordshire Council will also be hosting events to gather views from businesses and from community groups during December 2024.
Public Consultation – a Tree, Hedgerow & Woodland Strategy for Herefordshire
With National Tree Week 2025 (23rd November to 1st December) fast approaching Herefordshire Council are looking for help in shaping the Treescape of Herefordshire for years to come. The Council is facilitating a Trees, Hedgerow and Woodland Strategy for the county (h-THAWS) and your thoughts, ideas and suggestions to help make it a relevant and deliverable strategy for years to come.
The consultation is now live at Herefordshire Tree, Hedgerow and Woodland Strategy (h-THAWS) and runs until the 8th December. Herefordshire Council welcomes everyone to make a response via the online consultation or directly by email to hthaws@landuse.co.uk

Public Footpath Officer Vacancy in Linton

Profile of the role
The Parish Footpath Officer (PFO) role is to assist in the surveying, maintenance and improvement of the Public Rights of Way (PROW) network within an allocated area.
The essential elements of the role are to:
Attend the PFO Induction training course, and additional training as and when necessary.
Commit a minimum of 12 days a year to the role.
Attend PFO meetings for the purpose of keeping up to date with the PROW team and sharing best practice.
Carry out regular surveys of public rights of way in your allocated parish in accordance to the PROW Survey protocols.
Carry out basic clearance of vegetation (e.g. around signposts, waymark posts, stiles, gates etc.) using hand tools.
Inform the PROW inspector of any issues that you cannot easily fix yourself or are of a particular safety concern.
Carry out way-marking in accordance with the way-marking protocols.
Read and adhere to all Risk Assessments and Health and Safety procedures relating to the role provided by the PROW team in accordance with Herefordshire Council (HCC) guidance.
Follow all guidance issued in the Volunteer Handbook.
Report issues on the network via the HCC website following the ‘reporting an issue’ protocols and include any remedial work carried out.
Where appropriate work with other PROW volunteers, partner organisations, affiliated volunteer groups and contractors to undertake tasks approved by the PROW Team.
Liaise with your Parish Council to exchange information and to keep them informed of your activities, perhaps through a regular report to Council meetings.
Optional Duties
Carry out more extensive vegetation clearance (strimming), practical maintenance or improvements. (Competency training in the use of strimmers is required)
Provide information and advice to landowners about PROW on their land and how you and HCC might be able to assist, Training to be provided.
Take part in volunteer work parties.
Assist with promotion of PROW at events, village fairs etc.
