Hereford e-cargo bike fund
If you’re part of a business or organisation in Hereford, you can apply for a great opportunity at the moment. Time to apply for a Babboe e-cargo bike (it’s wheely-good), through the Choose how you move Hereford E-cargo Bike Grant, funded by the Towns Fund.
What are the benefits we hear you ask? Your organisation can use the e-cargo bike to cycle short journeys, to deliver or move items for example, so saving on fuel costs and time spent in traffic. It also helps your team get active and have a bit of fresh air in their working day (sounds like a win win).
Charities can apply, where demand and benefit can be demonstrated, however priority will be given to businesses. It’s useful to know that the fund is open to sole traders, so if you know of a budding entrepreneur going it alone, let them know too.

Developing a Climate Change Adaptation Plan
Herefordshire Council is working with Sustainability West Midlands to develop a Climate Change Adaptation Plan for the county. This will look at what actions need to be taken to ensure that the county’s people, infrastructure, natural environment and businesses are prepared for and can become more resilient to the impacts of climate change.
We are keen to hear about the experiences of Herefordshire based community groups, especially those who have been affected by extreme weather, or those planning activities to address climate change.
Herefordshire based Community groups are invited to attend a webinar hosted by Sustainability West Midlands at midday on Friday 8 September and to contribute to a follow up survey designed to gather input and insights from local community organisations.

Are you an organisation in contact with unpaid carers?
Herefordshire Council is reviewing and updating its Carers Strategy and would like to hear from organisations that may come into contact with carers.
Between September and November 2023, there will be a number of engagement workshops taking place to gather local insights from unpaid carers of all ages, and from the groups and organisations that provide support.
Unpaid or informal carers are people who provide unpaid help to a friend or family member needing support, perhaps due to illness, older age, disability, a mental health condition or an addiction.
There’s a brief questionnaire aimed at organisations that may come into contact with carers directly, or indirectly, as a result of other support that is provided to an individual. By completing this survey, you’ll be helping the council to gather information that will support the development of the face-to-face workshops, as well as providing data that may feed into the Herefordshire Carers Strategy.

Wellbeing for Carers course
The Cart Shed is running an online Wellbeing for Carers course this October, aimed at supporting the wellbeing of unpaid carers, those caring for family members or friends.
The sessions are free, and provide that all important chance to connect with other carers in a similar situation, to share experiences, and have some ‘me time’ (with some seasonal craft activities too).
The course runs for 3 hours per week (10am -1pm), for 4 weeks, starting on Wednesday 4 October. There’s a different topic for discussion each week, supported by a range of information, and learning strategies that will support people in their caring role. A postal surprise for all people taking part includes a themed craft kit, to provide all the materials needed to complete one craft activity per session (so thoughtful).

Sessions are funded by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Wellbeing and Recovery College.
Bringing the arts to everyone…
This is the aim of Scops Arts Trust, to give people of all ages and backgrounds the chance to access and enjoy the arts. With this in mind, the Trust award a small number of grants each year to support high quality projects.
If your charity, social enterprise or community group wants to give people of all ages a better quality of life by enabling them to participate in and enjoy the arts, particularly the performing arts (music, drama, opera and dance), then this could be for you.
This year, the Trust is especially interested in supporting performing arts projects aimed at adults and projects which will benefit all ages across the generations. It’s keen to hear from organisations planning smaller regional festivals in areas where there is little arts provision, perhaps due to being a remote location.
