Linton(South) Parish Council is recruiting a

Clerk & Responsible Financial Officer (RFO)

Place of work: Home based, with attendance at Parish Council meetings.
Hours: 8 hours a week, covering both roles. The hours of work are flexible except for attendance at meetings.
Salary: Dependent on experience, within the local government scale recommended for Parish Clerks. Subject to annual review along nationally agreed and published guidelines.
Meetings: Every month on the second Monday of the month beginning at 7.30pm, and alternating between Gorsley and Linton Village Halls. Some extraordinary meetings may occasionally be required, and the post holder will be expected to attend these.
Requirements:
  • Able to work on own initiative.
  • Capable of planning and prioritising tasks.
  • Confidence to deal with members of the public, councillors, local government bodies, contractors.
  • Competent in the use of Office, Word, Excel and website updating and publishing.
  • Must be able to store Council-provided computer equipment and files securely at home address
  • Prior relevant experience is an advantage but not essential as training in all aspects of local government administration will be provided.

The role includes:

  • Managing the day-to-day business of the Council.
  • Preparing agendas and drafting minutes.
  • Advising the Council and ensuring its compliance with legislation and best practice.
  • Implementing Council decisions.
  • Submitting the Council’s annual governance return.
  • Managing and reporting on the Council’s finances.
  • Updating the Parish Council website.
