Surface Dressing Road works

Balfour Beatty, on behalf of Herefordshire Council,  are surface dressing 126 stretches of road (a total of 65 miles/106km) across the county. The work will take place over the six weeks from 21 May to end of June 2019.

Surface dressing is a coating of bitumen and stone that seals the road surface, improves its texture and extends its life.  Any defects, such as pot holes, are fixed first. It’s a three-step process that is quicker than other road maintenance techniques, causing less disruption for residents and road users

They have published a map of sites, information about the process and information for businesses and residents on Herefordshire Council’s website at:

There is also a short video on our Twitter channel:

Subject to the extent of works, a road closure will normally come into operation from 09.00 hours until 17.00 hours each day but in most cases, the work will be completed far sooner resulting in the road re-opening earlier, anything from a few hours to half a day sooner.

  1. I am delighted to see any improvements to the roads in Herefordshire and would like to know when the repairs and improvements will take place for the rest of the road on Linton ridge U70239. Last year much of the road was resurfaced and now will be surface dressed. The Linton Ridge road needs completing along its length.

I would be grateful if could let me know when the road will be properly surfaced along its length.

    Many thanks
